Vanessa Trump, wife of Donald Trump Jr., the U.S. president’s eldest child, has filed for divorce after 12 years of marriage.
According to New York Post Page 6, the pair, who wed in November 2005, were listed as parties in an uncontested matrimonial case late Thursday in New York state court in Manhattan. Documents for the proceeding were blocked from public view online.
Trump Jr. and his younger brother, Eric, were put in charge of the Trump Organization before their father took office as US President in January 2016.
Last month, it was reported that Vanessa was taken to the hospital after receiving a letter containing white powder that was later deemed to be non-hazardous. The letter was addressed to her husband.
Trump Jr., following the incudent, tweeted that he was “thankful that Vanessa & my children are safe and unharmed after the incredibly scary situation that occurred this morning. Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behavior.”
The president’s son ditched his Secret Service detail for a period of time in September, reportedly because he wanted more privacy, especially for his wife who is said to be a private person.
The security detail was however restored after one week, according to Fox News.
