The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has advised the African Democratic Congress and its candidate, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka, not to mock the plight of workers in the state with their promises aimed at winning votes.
This was contained in a statement released on Friday and made available to newsmen by the publicity secretary of the party, Tunde Oladunjoye.
The ADC candidate had promised to recall the workers that were relieved of their appointments by the administration of Governor Ibikunle Amosu.
Speaking on Friday during an interactive meeting with the executive members of Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) in the state at the NLC secretariat, Abeokuta, Isiaka said “ The labours of our heroes past will not be in vain. Public service is the engine room of the government. It is on this note that I promise, today to reinstate Comrade Akeem Ambali, and others dismissed by the government of the day. I was particularly irked at the development, knowing fully well the importance of the labour union in our polity.
“Ideally, government’s role is to create a conducive environment and atmosphere which will make the public servants thrive and function at their best. Your interests as workers, would be promoted.”
But reacting, the state APC posited that the ADC candidate played a prominent role in the previous administration.
The statement read in part: “Our advice is that the ADC and its candidate should not mock the plight of Ogun workers as they (workers) know, by pedigree and association, who the genuine friends of Ogun workers are and the candidate that could place premium on their welfare in government.”
