Canadian rapper, Drake is suing a woman who accused him of raping and getting her pregnant.
Drake claimed in the lawsuit that he met the woman, Layla Lace, in February 2017 after a gig in Manchester, England on his Boy Meets World Tour.
The Gods plan rapper said he and Lace engaged in consensual sex. But trouble reportedly started when he refused to take her on his road tour with him.
Drake claims that after their one night stand, Layla frequently sent him a text message, saying she missed him and looking forward to a relationship with him.
Drake said he lacked the “time or energy to respond” to her advances, which further made her angry.
In April 2017, she posted on Instagram and for the first time claimed she was pregnant.
She wrote:”So I guess still in this era this is the new thing that after you tell a dude you pregnant they stop answering they phone!!!”.
According to the lawsuit, she then threatened to publicly leak messages from Drake. She went on SiriusXm radio station and announced she was impregnated by Drake.
Drake said in May of 2017, Lace had obtained legal representation in a push to make him pay her money for the child she claimed she was expecting by him.
Layla refused to take a paternity test. She and her lawyer went silent. Drake says the whole thing was a scam.
He said: “There is no credible evidence of pregnancy, nor any baby, which would have been born last Fall.”
Drake said Layla switched tactics and went to authorities in New York and alleged him of raping her during their one-night stand. The new lawyer she hired demanded for money to keep the allegation secret.
The case was referred to Manchester police, who interviewed Drake and ultimately cleared him.
Drake said it wasn’t over and he is asking for unspecified damages. He’s suing her for civil extortion, emotional distress, fraud, defamation, and abuse of process.
Drake confirmed he had a son in his latest album released in June 2018 by porn actress Sophie Brussaux. The rumour about her pregnancy also started in May 2017.
