A 400-level student in the Department of Microbiology, University of Ilorin, has beaten his lecturer to stupor.
The student, identified as Captain Walz, reportedly didn’t observe the compulsory Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and sought the lecturer’s help.
The victim, identified as Mrs Zakaria, is said to be the student’s project supervisor.
The incident, according to Daily Trust, happened last Thursday.
The student had gone to the woman’s office to seek her help over his failure to do his SIWES, the medium reports.
But following the lecturer’s refusal, Captain Walz, reportedly became furious and assaulted Mrs Zakariya, inflicting severe injuries on her.
She was subsequently rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Director of Corporate Affairs of the institution, Mr Kunle Akogun, confirmed the development to Daily Trust.
“Yes, the incident is to true but lecturer is now in a stable condition. The Vice Chancellor, Prof Abdulkareem Age, visited her in the company of some Dean’s and other university staff.
“They described the incident as unfortunate and sad, assuring that justice will be done on the matter.
“He has ordered that the victim should be treated on the bill of the university,”Akogun added.
