The provost, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED), Oyo, Dr Rasak Adefabi, has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and Oyo State Governor Oluseyi Makinde for a successful staff ICT training and maintaining worker-friendly policies respectively.
He gave the commendation at the opening of a one-week ICT training for 77 members of staff of the college last week.
The training programme (ICDL Intermediate Module) held for teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. The training, which was held at the college’s ICT centre, ended on August 21.
Declaring the training open, Dr Adefabi expressed satisfaction with the maiden training edition for 77 staff members of the college for part utilization of the year 2016/2017/2018 (merged) TETFUND Intervention in ICT support.
“It gladdens my heart to proclaim that this is another giant step at deepening ICT literacy level among staff members of the college. The choice of intermediate module was informed by the fact that computer literacy level of college Staff members had passed the basic level. Hence, I enjoin you to use this opportunity to take your ICT knowledge and skills to the next level,”he said.
Adefabi recalled how the management under his leadership, through 2014 TETFUND Intervention, sought and got the assistance of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to put in place a world-class 1000 systems ICT Centre with full complement of intranet and Internet facilities. “I am glad that this training is taking place at the centre and I can assure you that the available number of computer systems at the college ICT is adequate for maintenance of social distancing during training in line with COVID-19 protocols,” he announced.
In a statement by the Special Assistant on Media Matters to the provost, Mr. Wale Adeoye, Adefabi urged participants to be punctual, diligent and use the opportunity of the absence of students on campus to pay adequate attention. He pointed out that participants would write an online international examination leading to the award of internationally recognized International Certification in Digital Literacy (ICDL) certificate which can be used to seek employment anywhere in the world.
The provost conveyed the appreciation of the chairman for the 14th Governing Council, Prof. Matthew Odedokun, the management, staff and students to the Executive Secretary of the TETFUND, Abuja, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, for his support and for standing by the college at all times in terms of infrastructural development and capacity building for staff of EACOED, Oyo since the inception of his administration. He also appreciated Governor Oluseyi Makinde, the visitor to the College, for his uncommon love for the college that has always engendered the good atmosphere to hosting such world-class training workshop at a time like this.
