A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday struck out a suit seeking to bar Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State from contesting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries scheduled for Thursday, June 25.
The court took the decision after parties in the suit agreed to an out-of-court settlement and withdrew the matter which was before Justice E. O. Obile.
Counsel to the plaintiff had earlier sought leave of the court to settle with the defendants, a request counsels for the defendants did not object.
The court took a recess in the morning to allow parties in the suit amicably resolve their issues out of court.
The court struck out the suit upon resumption of proceedings after the plaintiff’s lead counsel, D. C. Denwigwe (SAN), withdrew the suit on the grounds that all parties had settled amicably.
Justice Obile commended the parties for settling out of court, adding that it was the proper thing to do.
