Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 28 persons including a cleric suspected to be ‘Yahoo boys’ in Ilorin, Kwara State.
A statement signed by EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said the arrest was effected at Mandate area, Ilorin, by operatives of the EFCC Ilorin Zonal Command, following intelligence on the activities of fraudsters operating in the area.
The anti-graft agency said preliminary investigation revealed the identity of the suspects to include a cleric, twin brothers, six students of various tertiary institutions, mining operators and a host of other specialised private individuals.
Those arrested, according to Uwujaren, include a cleric, Toheeb Albarka; Lambe Kehinde and Lambe Taye, twin brothers; Francis Stephen, Olabode Yusuf and Musbaudeen Akorede, who trade in dog selling respectively.
The six arrested undergraduates of various tertiary institutions in the state are Moshood Okunola, Kayode Aderemi, Ayobami Olorunfemi, Paul Ayomide, Agboola Marvellous and Adebisi Olatunde.
Other suspects include miner, Olaleye Solomon; Computer Technician, Akinade Samuel; Real Estate Developer, Damilola Shagaya; Graphic Designer, Muhammed Awal; Laundering Analyst, Adam Mubarak; Tiler, Ogundiran Nathaniel; Printer, Jamiu Ishola; Plumber, Dauda Tunde; Bet Naija Agent, Abdullahi Sikiru; Website Developer, Kasali Afeez Adegoke; Wears/Shoe Dealer, Jordan Adeyinka and a driver, Ojeniyi Boluwatife.
The rest were Adedamola Samson, Olarewaju Adisa Taofeek, Adewale Oloro and Omogbolahan Ibrahim.
Items recovered from the suspects following their arrest include 10 exotic cars, different brands of laptops and cell phones, printer, among others.
He said that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations by the EFCC.
