The Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State Chapter, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye has urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of godliness, charity, perseverance and spiritual intercession for the nation as the country celebrates Eid-el-Kabir.
Aleshinloye, in a message to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration advised Nigerians to always promote acts that would enhance national integration and brotherhood.
He advised Muslim faithful and adherents of other faiths to always demonstrate love and understanding towards one another in the quest for a greater and more prosperous Nigeria, describing sallah celebration as one that honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son to show submission to Allah’s command.
“As we’ve read from the Glorious Qur’an, just when Ibrahim was about to slaughter his son Ishmael, before the Almighty Allah (SWT) gave him a sheep as replacement. As such, we Muslims use Eid ul-Adha to celebrate Prophet Ibrahim’s complete obedience to the will of Allah and as a reminder of our own willingness to make sacrifices in obedience to God,” he said.
He added that the spate of kidnapping and killing being witnessed in the country would soon become a thing of the past if Nigerians are united in the fight against insecurity.
While wishing Nigerians, especially those of Islamic faith a happy sallah celebration, the ALGON boss urged citizens to continue to pray and work for the peace and unity of the country.
