The Democratic Party(SDP) candidate in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election, Chief Segun Oni, has said he has received reports of vote buying in some local government areas.
Oni stated this while speaking with newsmen after casting his vote at Ward 2, Unit 6 in his hometown of Ifaki Ekiti.
He said: “I’ve received reports of voting buying in Ado Ekiti and Oye. Those are the adverse reports I’ve gotten so far.
“I am not a complainant…I don’t live on complain but whatever they do, we’ll beat them. The people and Nigerians know who will win this election. It is not like an election that is hanging.”
Oni, who noted that the massive turn out of voters mean that the confidence of the people has boosted a bit, said people now have more confidence in the system.
The SDP candidate added that he believed security agents are doing their lot to protect the integrity of the election.
“You don’t pass quick judgement because the guys who want to disrupt it will wait till voting has happened substantially or when voting is about to end. That’s when I can assess security agents,” he added.
