The Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has suspended academic activities for two weeks following protest by students of the institution over hike in school fees.
This was contained in a statement issued by the varsity’s Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun, on Tuesday.
“The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Edward Olanipekun, on behalf of the university Senate, has approved the suspension of academic activities on campus for two (2) weeks with effect from Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
“Arising from the above, all students of the university are ordered to vacate the campus premises immediately and should not be seen within the campus premises for the next two weeks.
“Parents and guardians are hereby advised to invite their wards home immediately.
“Any student found wandering around the university premises does so at his/her own risk,” the statement read.
It was gathered that the entrance of the institution was blocked by protesting students on Tuesday, leaving staff and visitors to the school stranded.
With the new school fees announced by the university, 100 level medical students will pay N755,000, while law students as well as nursing science students will pay N505,000.
