The senate has asked the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega, to appear before it on Wednesday’s plenary to brief members on INEC’s level of preparedness towards the forthcoming general elections.
The decision was taken after a motion by the senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, who stressed that there was the need for Jega to brief the senators and demonstrate the use of the card readers.
The Minority Leader, Senator George Akume, also suggested that the three service chiefs who engineered the postponement of the polls from February 14, be equally invited.
Senate President David Mark, after the voice vote approval of senators, ruled that the invitation of service chiefs would be determined by Jega’s submission on Wednesday.
