The President, Nigeria Voters Assembly and House of Representatives hopeful for Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency, Comrade Mashood Erubami, has paid glowing tribute to the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who died on Friday, describing him as a cerebral and colossus in traditional history and Yoruba culture.
“The death of the Oba, as announced in the palace which has become real, was an incalculable loss not only to Oyo State, but to Nigeria Traditional Institutions.
“Though the Alafin of Oyo can be said to have left this sinful world at a ripe age, his strides and accomplishments weigh heavily beyond his age as a truly remarkable King!
“His longest reign so far in Oyo State will not be forgotten easily, especially with the legacies he left behind in impacts and purposefulness, having contributed immensely in all areas of cultural upliftment and social economic advancement in and outside his domain!
“He was impatient with idleness, a very courageous king who was always committed to the upliftment of his people, he never gave in to associating with infidelity in royalty.
“He never relished money to forgo integrity and was always available to give value to tradition until his demise. Despite his age, he radiated culture, character of leadership and excellence while on the throne, always advancing fairness and justice in every of his Royal decisions and judgements,” he said.
Erubami commiserated with the Oyomesi, monarchs in Oyo State and royal fathers in Nigeria, direct families of the Alaafin, praying that the good Lord grant the entire indigenes of Oyo State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of Oba Adeyemi.
“We have indeed lost a courageous gem! We would continue to miss and remember him,” he added.
