An Ethiopian Airlines aircraft has become the first international flight to land at the Kaduna International Airport following the closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The Abuja airport will remain closed for six weeks to allow for repairs and rehabilitation of its runway and other facilities.
There had been mixed reactions to the diversion of flights to Kaduna, with some international airlines claiming that the Kaduna Airport was not standard enough to receive their planes. The successful landing of the Ethiopian Airline plane may have just proved otherwise.
Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, was on ground to receive the plane.
