A former member of the House of Representatives, Joan Onyemaechi-Mrakpor, has regained freedom after 11 days in kidnappers den.
The Delta State Police Command disclosed this in a post on X, on Saturday.
“Police PRO SP Bright Edafe has just officially confirmed Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi (Ada-Anioma) has been released by her abductors… details coming,” the command wrote.
The former lawmaker is reportedly receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
Onyemaechi-Mrakpor, who represented Aniocha North/Aniocha South/Oshimili North/Oshimili South Federal Constituency, was abducted on July 30 at her church in Asaba, Delta State capital. Her abductors killed her driver and police orderly before whisking her away.
The kidnappers had demanded for a N1 billion ransom, but it is unclear if any amount was paid before her release.
