Senator Bassey Otu has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State for the 2023 general elections.
Otu, who represented the Southern Senatorial District between 2011 and 2015, emerged through consensus in an exercise held at the Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja, on Monday.
The exercise, which involved 17 aspirants, was presided over by the state leader of the party and governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.
Others in attendance were the state chairman of the party, Alphonsus Eba, state executives and party stakeholders.
The party’s state Publicity Secretary, Erasmus Ekpang, in a statement on Tuesday, said: “The party expressed its sincere appreciation to the leader of our party, our chairman, all the governorship aspirants, critical stakeholders and members of our great party for arriving at this historic milestone, and looks forward to a robust primary.”
