Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, on Thursday arrested an officer of the Federal Road Safety (FRSC) in Ikere Ekiti for driving against traffic.
The governor carried out the arrest at Sawmill area of Ikere Ekiti, while on his way to the flag off of dualization of the Ado-Ikere-Ondo State boundary road and commissioning of some projects in Ikere town.
The FRSC officer, Adeola Alabi, ran out of luck when he left his side of the road which was bad and drove against the traffic. His plan was to reconnect to his lane but unfortunately for him, Fayose’s convoy was coming from the opposite direction.
Some residents came out to watch the drama which saw Alabi prostrating before Fayose, begging him to have mercy on him but his pleas fell on deaf ears with Fayose maintaining that the law must take its course.
Fayose ordered that the Peugeot 505 Saloon car driven by Alabi to be seized and taken to the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA) yard. Fine for driving against traffic is N50,000. Alabi may be forced to cough out that amount.
