Residents of communities close to the Obasanjo Farms in Otta have appealed to the Ogun State Government to do something about the threat posed to their health by the outbreak of Bird Flu on the farm.
According to sources, it has been authoritatively confirmed that the flu had hit the poultry unit of the former president’s farm.
Residents expressed concerns about the outbreak saying they now keep their children indoors because “no one knows what can happen.”
They decried the seeming lack of concern by the State Ministry of Health and Agriculture, arguing that the management of the farm should have been ordered to destroy the sick birds.
Some farmers in the community have reportedly started to record casualties in their poultry farms, prompting them to call on the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to take decisive steps to quarantine the source farm in order to help rescue their own farms.
