The Federal Executive Council (FEC) rejected the proposed ICT University scheduled to commence operations last month, reports say.
Minister of Communications Adebayo Shittu while receiving the report of 31-member committee on the proposed ICT University in July had said the specialised institution would take off in Abuja in September.
But Daily Trust learnt in Abuja yesterday that FEC unanimously rejected the minister’s memo on the establishment of the tertiary institution.
The officials who spoke with newspaper in Abuja said the council gave lack of funds as one of the reasons for rejecting it.
The FEC members said the Digital Bridge Institute, the training arm of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is sufficiently providing tertiary training in ICT.
