The Federal Government has released a time table of events for President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration for a second term on May 29, 2019 and Democracy Day events for June 12.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed who addressed a World Press Conference in Abuja on Monday said the inauguration ceremony on May 29 will be low-key while a more elaborate event which will be attended by world leaders will hold on June 12 to mark the country’s new Democracy Day.
Both days have been declared public holidays.
Details of the two events are as follows:
Presidential Inauguration on May 29, 2019
Monday, May 20 – World Press Conference at National Press Centre to announce event
Tuesday, May 21 – Commencement of a three-day National Youth Entrepreneurship Empowerment Summit at the International Conference Centre (ICC) here in Abuja.
Wednesday, May 22 – Federal Executive Council Valedictory Session will be held at the Council Chambers, State House, Abuja
Friday, May 24 – Special Jumat Lecture and prayer at the National Mosque
Saturday, May 25 – First Lady’s interaction with women at the Old Chamber of the State House
Sunday, May 26 – Special Interdenominational Church Service at the National Christian Centre
Monday, May 27 – Children’s Day broadcast by President Buhari to be followed later in the day by a Children’s Variety Party.
Wednesday, May 29 – Swearing in of the President and the Vice President is
at the Eagle Square, to be followed by a State Banquet at the State House in the evening of the same day
2019 Democracy Day Celebration (June 7- 12, 2019)
Friday, June 7 – Historical Exhibition in Arts, Pictures and Immersive Environment begins and will run through June 12. The event is slated to hold at the ICC.
Sunday, June 9 – Youth Concert, Creative Industry and Entertainment Night at the ICC.
Monday, June 10 – Secondary Schools Exhibition/Panel Discussion at the ICC
Tuesday, June 11 – Three events: the PMB Oratorical Contest at the ICC, an
Anti-corruption Summit at the Transcorp Hilton and and a First Lady’s
Commissioning Programme in Yola, Adamaw
Wednesday, June 12 – Parade at the Eagle Square. The Democracy Day programme will wrap up with a Dinner and Gala Night at the State House Conference Centre
