The Delta State government, through its Advisory and Peace Building Council, has advised residents of the state to be cautious and to avoid any act that may lead to fire outbreaks especially in the dry season.
In a statement issued by Paul Osahor, Director of Information, residents were urged to observe safety precautions to avoid incidences of fire outbreak and prevent possble loss of lives and properties.
The government advised residents to “refrain from indiscriminate burning of bushes, exercise caution in handling of combustible materials namely; petrol, electrical installations, use of gas cooker and receiving mobile phone call in kitchen, petrol stations and power generating stations and to avoid storage of petrol and other inflammable materials at home in jerrycans”.
According to the statement, “members of the public should contact the State Fire Service in case of any outbreak on the following telephone numbers:
