A former military ruler of northern origin is working with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to scuttle the general elections postponed till March and April this year, Newspeakonline has learnt.
The former military ruler is said to be working with President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP to ensure that the election does not hold to keep the PDP in power until it is convinced of its victory in the election. It is believed that the ruling party is jittery, given the soaring popularity of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the election.
Newspeakonline learnt that the former military ruler and his associates are afraid that Buhari may roll out anti-corruption policies that will affect their interests both in the public and private sectors , hence their new pact with the current administration.
Newspeakonline learnt that the former military ruler has come up with some ideas on how to frustrate the election within the six weeks ahead of the stipulated dates for the general election. The options include court cases, removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, to pave way for manipulation of the election, pushing out more money to win more Nigerians to the side of the PDP as well as sponsoring some groups to scuttle the election.
One of such groups is the MASSOB who, it was learnt, is being secretly sponsored to declare secession shortly before the election if odds are still not in favour of the PDP.
