Four members of the House of Representatives from Zamfara State have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
They are Bello Shinkafi (Shinkafi/Zurmi Federal Constituency); Ahmed Bakura, (Bakura/Maradun); Ahmed Shehu, (Bungudu/Maru) and Suleiman Gummi, (Gummi/Bukkuyum).
Their defection was announced in a joint letter read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, during plenary on Tuesday.
In the letter, they cited the division in the opposition party as the reason for their action.
Sani Dan-Galadima had last Wednesday announced his defection.
Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, had formally announced his defection to the APC in Gusau, the state capital, last Tuesday along with members of the federal and state legislatures.
All the 24 members of the state House of Assembly, all the three senators and six out of the seven members of the House of Reps had followed the governor to the ruling party.
However, the Deputy Governor, Aliyu Gusau; and a member of the member representing Anka/Talata-Mafara Federal Constituency, Kabiru Mafara, remained in PDP.
The lawmaker representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Senator Hassan Gusau, had also announced his resignation from the PDP last Tuesday.
