Silverbird Group has warned the Nigerian public against being defrauded in reports saying its property, Silverbird Galleria Mall, has been put on sale for N6.5 billion.
The property is located on Ahmad Bello Way in Victoria Island, Lagos. It was placed on the website of: www.nigerianpropertycenter.com.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Silverbird said the public should be aware that “Silverbird Galleria Limited is the rightful owner of the Silverbird Galleria Mall and that the property is not for sale”
Stating that the “for sale” notice was the handiwork of “unscrupulous individuals and companies”, the company advised people to “desist from engaging in any fraudulent tansaction regarding the sale of the property” as it would not be liable for lossess or damages suffered.
Newspeakonline recalls that in June 2016,the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) took possession of the property following the inability of the Senator Ben Murray-Bruce-led corporate group to repay a loan reportedly obtained from Union Bank.
The property was however reopened the next day with AMCON saying the aim of the takeover was not to liquidate the company but to make it more profitable so that the loan crisis could be solved.
Murray-Bruce, who represents Bayelsa East in the National Assembly, is one of the most vocal critics of President Muhammadu Buhari administration. He is fondly called the “Common Sense” senator.
