Protesters on Tuesday stormed the ever busy Benin-Ore highway to express their displeasure against the scarcity of naira notes and fuel across the country.
The protesters blocked the dual carriageway, including the flyover interchange, causing travellers to be stranded on the highway for many hours.
Recall that the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran, had on Monday, warned residents of the state not to embark on any form of protest.
The Ondo CP cautioned that embarking on any form protest was not healthy, warning it could be hijacked by hoodlums to perpetrate heinous crimes in the state.
One of the protesters, who spoke on condition of anonymity said the protest was to send a message to the government that the masses are suffering.
