A Fulani group, Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GADFAN), has asked both the Federal and Oyo State Governments to ensure the return of the displaced Sarikin Fulani Igangan, Alh Salihu AbdulKadir, to the town, in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The association in statement signed by the National Chairman and National Secretary of GADFAN, Alhaji Sulaiman Yakubu, and Ibrahim Abdullahi respectively, said both governments should compensate the Sarkin Fulani for all the loss he and his people suffered during the alleged attack on their settlement by Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho.
It also demanded the prosecution of Sunday Igboho and others involved in the unleashing of violence on AbdulKadir and the destruction of his property
The association made these demands after its officials paid a solidarity visit to AbdulKadir in Ilorin, Kwara State.
While calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Sunday Igboho, the association said: “To our greatest surprise and dismay, up to this moment Sunday Igboho is moving freely as if nothing happened.
“The GADFAN, therefore, calls on the Federal and Oyo State governments to ensure that justice is done to Salihu AbdulKadir and his people by way of not only ensuring that Igboho and his boys are apprehended and brought to book but that Sarkin Fulani and his people be compensated and returned to their homes.
“The attack led to the burning and total destruction of all his (Sarkin Fulani Igangan) houses, household items, and his animals that include cows, sheep, goats, turkeys, a school, shops, and a mosque; all worth over N500 million.”
It vowed to explore all peaceful and legal means to ensure that justice is done to all parties, adding: “We are already in consultation with our lawyers and we will soon take all the necessary legal steps if nothing is done by the relevant authorities to address the issue.”
Tell your seriki to to return all the kidnapped ransom that he has collected and the life that he has taken, before you can file a case against Sunday igboho.
