The organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) have unveiled the list of nominees for the eighth edition.

Actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, and film director, Daniel Etim Effiong, announced the nominees for the 8th AMVCA via a live stream on Saturday night.

The entries include the on-screen performances, directorial turns, set design choices, song selections, and styling executions that seized the filmmaking community’s attention for the season.

This year’s nominees consist of 33 categories, including the newly introduced ‘Best Online Social Content Creator.’

Funke Akindele-Bello leads the nominees list as she was nominated in six categories including ‘Best Costume Designer’, ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’, ‘Best Movie West Africa’, ‘Best TV Series (Comedy/Drama)’, ‘Best Africa Magic Original Comedy Series’, and ‘Best Overall Movie’.

There are seven voting categories for the general public. They are Best Actor in a Comedy(Movie/TV Series); Best Actor in a Drama(Movie/TV Series); Best Actress in a Comedy(Movie/TV Series); Best Actress in a Drama(Movie/TV Series); Best Supporting Actor(Movie/TV Series); Best Supporting Actress (Movie/TV Series); and Best Short Film or Online Video.

An eight-day schedule of activities will precede the awards night, scheduled for May 14, 2022.
