Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, and Senegal’s Sadio Mane have emerged winners of the 2022 CAF Player of the Year in the Women and Men categories.
Oshoala, 27, was announced the winner in women’s category, making it fifth time, while Mane won the award for the second time.
Oshoala’s fifth crown moved her past Perpetua Nkwocha, another Nigerian striker, who won the award four times.
She had been adjudged the best African female footballer in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019.
In the men’s category, Mane retained the men’s CAF Player of the Year award after beating his compatriot, Edouard Mendy, and former Liverpool teammate, Mohammed Salah, to the continent’s most prestigious individual accolade.
The men’s ‘Young Player of the Year’ was scooped by Pape Matar Sarr of Senegal and Tottenham Hotspur while Ghana’s Evelyn Badu won the women’s category.
