Reports had it on Wednesday that the leader of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) Gani Adams and former Commander of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, Victor Ebikabowei Ben, alias General Boyloaf, were locked in a secret meeting that lasted several hours.
Even though details of he meeting were not official made available, a sources close to the parley said the OPC and the ex-MEND officials agreed on a working alliance for the March 28 presidential elections.
The source added: “Part of their resolution is that both groups will work together in the event of any premeditated violence against the South-South and South-West at the general elections”.
When Newspeakonline contacted Gani Adams over the telephone, he described the meeting as a mere “courtesy visit”.
He said Tompolo came four months ago to visit him while Asari Dokubo and several others visit him on a regular basis.
He also said: “I do pay them visit as well, so, there is no big deal in this”
He added that the issues at the meeting were personal and had nothing to do with the elections as was reported.
