Family, friends and associates of late Major General Abdullahi Iyanda Muraina, on Thursday, held the 41 days fidau prayer for the deceased at his ancestral home, Daada Compound, Adeoyo, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
They described Muraina’s death as a great loss to Ibadan land and Oyo State in general.
The event, which was well attended by family, friends and associates of the deceased was put together by his siblings, led by Alhaji Kabir Busari Muraina, as well as Alhaja Rasidat Adebisi, Alhaja Monsurat Oladejo and Mr AbdulJeleel Muraina. The extended family members were led by Mogaji Daada .
Dignitaries at the event include Muslim clerics, officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Col. (Mrs) Nike Akerele (Rtd), Chief Dotun Sanusi, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, Mr Oluwafemi Abioye, and ace fuji musician, Alhaji Rashidi Ayinde Merenge among others.
Those who spoke at the event extolled the virtues of the deceased, and commended his philanthropic nature and efforts toward the development of Ibadan land during his life time.
Recall that the deceased, who was a recipient of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) award, former President, Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and the Aare Ajagundola of Iseyin land died last month after a brief illness.
One of the invited clerics, Dr. Mudasiru Bada, described the deceased as a phillantropist of note, who always contribute to anything that concerns Ibadan land, both morally and financially.
The Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Abdulrasheed AbdulAzeez, said the deceased did a lot to alliviate poverty among the people, urging the family to emulate the virtues the deceased left behind.
In his vote thanks, Alh Kabir Busari Muraina, called for strong relationship among family members, urging them to adhere strictly with the admonitions of the cleric and forget about the shortcomings on how the burial of of the late Major General was handled.
