A member of the Ghanaian parliament, Mr. Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)has been assassinated at his Accra home.
Reports say the 51-year-old lawmaker representing representing Abuakwa North Constituency, Eastern Region of Ghana was at home with his wife, Ivy Heward- Mills at the time of the incident.
The killers reportedly gained access into the house with a ladder and entered his bedroom, where they engaged him in a scuffle before hacking him to death.
The murderers were believed to have perpetrated the heinous crime with a knife and a cutlass, because a blood stained knife and cutlass were seen outside the victim’s bedroom.
The Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tenge at a news conference also confirmed the arrest of five persons, including two women in connection with the murder.
The police maintained that they could not immediately confirm whether the killing relating to a robbery attack or politically motivated.
