Confirmed cases of coronavirus infection have crossed the one million mark on Thursday.
As at 10pm Nigerian time, the number of confirmed cases worldwide was 1,007,793, confirming predictions of one million hit this week.
As the global figures crossed one
million, Nigeria’s inceased to 184 with two deaths and 20 recoveries.
Of the million-bracket number, Europe and the United States of America account for the highest per region.
With 240,395 confirmed cases, the US alone accounts for over 20 percent of the global number. The combination of Italy, which has 115,242 cases and Spain with 110,409 also accounts for over 20 percent of the global infection.
In essence, the US, Italy and Spain have combined 466,064 cases accounting for over 40 percent of the cases worldwide.
Among the three most ravaged countries, Spain has recorded the highest recovery rate followed by Italy and the US.
With 26,743 recovery out of 110.409, Spain leads with recovery rate of 24.2 per cent. Italy follows with 18,278 recovery amounting to 15.6 percent. The US has only 4.3 recovery rate with 10,365 out of 240,395 cases.
