The Executive Director of FATE Foundation in Lagos State, Adenike Adeyemi, has been named by Google.org among the seven Leaders to Watch from non-profit and social enterprise leaders around the world.
Leaders to Watch is Google.org’s way of uplifting non-profit and social enterprise leaders from within their grantee cohorts.
This year’s Leaders to Watch list recognises rising changemakers from recent Google.org grantees who are striving to build a better future for everyone. Many are solving problems with innovative technology, while others are making the technology industry more accessible and inclusive.
All seven leaders were recognised on the Google Search page on April 28, 2023 in the US, UK, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, France, Sweden, Nigeria, Mexico, Bolivia and Uruguay.
Each awardee will receive an unrestricted financial award of $30,000 for personal or professional development and mentorship from senior leaders at Google.
Speaking, the president of Google.org, Jacquelline Fuller, said the leaders are at the helm of organisations tackling some of the world’s most complex collective challenges.
“We hope that by supporting the personal and professional development of these inspiring social innovators, we can play a role in accelerating both their individual work and the progress that their teams and organisations are making each day,” he said.
Reacting, Adeyemi said she was honoured to be recognised as one of Google.org’s Leaders to Watch for 2023.
“The funding and support come at a pivotal time as we deepen our work and scale our impact in the entrepreneurship ecosystem, particularly through digital innovation and policy advocacy bearing in mind the strategic importance of small and grow businesses in accelerating sustainable socio-economic growth not just in Nigeria but all over the world,” she said.
