The Strategic Prayer Group (SPG) has felicitated with the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on his re-election for a second term in office.

A statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Dr. Olatunde Oladoyinbo, which was made available to newsmen by the Media and Public Relations Officer of the group, Pastor Ayotunde Ayodiran, described Makinde’s victory as an act of God and an answer to the prayers of the people of God.

The statement noted that Makinde’s victory is not the handiwork of any particular person or group but that of God, adding that all glory should be attributed to God who is the only one that is worthy of it.

While reiterating that though the first term of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State was characterised by many laudable projects and policies that sought to make the life of the people of Oyo State better than it was when he came in as governor, his victory wouldn’t have been like this if God was not involved.

“Yes, the governor did very well in his first 4 years with his projects such as roads construction and infrastructural developments and policies like payment of salaries to workers and pensioners. But his success at the poll wouldn’t have been seamless like that l, but the Bible says in Proverbs 21:31 ‘that the horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory is of the Lord,” the statement read.

The group urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory by extending hands of fellowship to all and never see anyone as a political enemy.

“The entire members of SPG are so happy that the election in Oyo State was largely violent free, an indication that there is a God in heaven that still answers prayers provided there are people who can call on Him in prayers.

“Our democracy is really on course and Oyo State actually lived up to her name as the pacesetter state; setting the pace for others to follow, especially as it has to do with conduct and participation in a free, fair and credible election. No one was intimated or coerced to express their electoral choices at the poll.

“I give kudos to the people for exercising their civic responsibility in a peaceful civil and orderly manner.

“Once again, on behalf of SPG, I want to congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde on his re-election as the Governor of Oyo State and also call on him to hit the ground running in ensuring that he improve on his first term achievements because the reward for this second term is more work. God will grant him the wisdom, grace and enablement needed to run the office in Jesus name,” it added

SPG is a special prayer group specifically put in place to consistently and constantly pray for the success of the governor and the government of Oyo State under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde and its members- Christians drawn from different denominations, backgrounds and professional callings.
