As part of its humble contribution to fight the spread of coronavirus and abuse of power by security agents in Nigeria and Africa at large, a group known as Coalition for a Better Nigeria has launched a unique software application that can be used to gather information in the ongoing fight against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and security agents brutality.
In a statement on Wednesday, signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Awa Bamiji, the group said deploying the WideBridge Solution in the fight against COVID – 19 assist in the ongoing fight to contain the spread of the virus and help in synergizing feedbacks from field workers.
Bamiji said: “Coalition for a Better Nigeria in conjunction with Isreal-based WideBridge is ready to partner with the three tiers of government on this special project.
“We advise people to check out its workability on the social media video and the representatives of government should watch the one earlier posted and the one that would be posted to any recommended phone number or numbers.
“After a two-month free service for a start, it will henceforth start attracting considerable financial implications.
“This application will be very useful for each staff coordinator to get feedbacks from the field workers and it goes for a few dollars/license per month with a two – month free service charge at the beginning.
“It is an android Phone or Walkee – Talkee software application with a two – month free service charge.
“Coalition for a Better Nigeria have thoroughly watched the video before giving its nod to this noble project initiated by our foreign partner.
“The historic approval and recommendation of this proposal is another area for the Nigerian Youths to assist the government in the on-going fight against the spread of COVID – 19.
“We therefore urge the Nigerian residents to continue rallying round the three Tiers of government to save lives of innocent people, as this software project is powered by INTERTEL NIGERIA LIMITED.”
The group said it was saddened by various reports on social media about brutality and abuse of power by security agents as well as illusion by the masses that funds donated to fight COVID – 19 are meant for public sharing and that it must get to everybody in the country, saying “we strongly feel some clarifications must be made at this crucial period by us as patriotic Citizens of this country.”
“It is the responsibility of the Federal Government, most especially the Inspector General of Police, to ensure that he does not allow his office to be continuously seen as arrow head that is constantly rubbishing the aims and objectives of the government in power, because it is glaring that his men have turned the situation in the various towns to money making venture and field of brutality, based on viral videos and the news reports.
“On the issue of N100 billion which social media reports claimed that the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, said the government had distributed to most vulnerable households in Nigeria and many people thought it a was a lie because it didn’t get to their hands.
“By arithmetic, N100 billion divided by 5000 will give us 2,000,000. This means only 2,000,000 most vulnerable Nigerians will get N5,000 each. With this, how can a reasonable individual wake up from his or her slumber and feels he or she must get a share of the money in a country where the population is nothing less than 150,000,000 and Lagos State alone has about 12,000,000 people.
“Getting a cash share in this kind of situation should be by destiny. More so, it has been clarified by the same Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, that donated funds are not meant for public sharing contrary to the rumours being peddling around by the opposition.
“We therefore salute the courage of President Muhammadu Buhari, who in his wisdom, during his speech promised to make sure that palliatives get to 3,500,000 most vulnerable Nigerians, which is now greater than the number the rumoured N100 billion would have touched.
“We therefore urge him to still see how this number could be increased because economy, not only of government but also of individuals is now badly affected and hunger is ravaging the land the more in this lockdown period.
“We do appreciate individual and corporate bodies who have been supporting the government with donations and sharing of palliatives directly to residents and call on many others to follow suit, because this is the appropriate time to be our brothers keepers.
“The result of the first 14 – day lockdown shows there is fire on the mountain in Nigeria and governments must do their best to prevent another extension by increasing substantially the number of people to be tested in order to clear every doubt when this present lockdown is over,” the statement said.
