Pakistan security forces surrounded a university campus in northwestern Pakistan after a group of gunmen opened fire on Wednesday morning.
About five attackers stormed Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police officer Saeedullah Khan said by phone. Six people have been reported injured so far, he said, adding that an intense firefight was underway. A professor and a student were killed in the attack, the Associated Press reported, citing Pakistan police.
About 1,100 and 250 staff members present in university, Jan Alam, an officer at the university, said by phone. About 7,000 students are enrolled but not all were present when the attack took place, he said.
