Gunmen have killed Eze Victor Ijioma, the traditional ruler of Orsu Obodo, in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo state.
It was gathered that the traditional ruler was murdered on Thursday evening.
The gunmen were said to have accosted the traditional ruler at Umuamaka junction in neighbouring Izombe town and murdered him inside his car before setting his corpse ablaze.
Also, the traditional prime minister of Mgbele, a community in the same local government was killed on Thursday evening.
Killings have been on the rise in Imo State since the conclusion of 2023 general elections.
In March, five personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were murdered at Okpala community in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of the state.
Similarly, five policemen and a couple were murdered in the same Ngor Okpala Local Government Area.
In the same vein, two policemen were killed in the same Ngor Okpala six days ago, while a Catholic priest was abducted in Okigwe.
