The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an incident involving Harrison Ford which took place Monday at John Wayne Airport in Orange County when the actor landed on the wrong runway near a full passenger plane.
The FAA, which does not ever identify people involved in aircraft incidents or accidents, released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. Ford was identified as the pilot involved by NBC News.
“Air traffic controllers cleared the pilot of a single-engine Aviat Husky to land on Runway 20L at John Wayne Airport Monday afternoon. The pilot correctly read back the clearance,” the FAA statement read. “The pilot then landed on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, overflying a Boeing 737 that was holding short of the runway. The FAA is investigating this incident.”
Ford’s rep declined to comment on the incident.
The Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor is an experienced pilot with decades of flying experience.
Ford and his love of flying made headlines in March 2015 when he made an emergency crash landing at Penmar golf course in Venice. The actor sustained injuries in that crash, but made a full recovery.
