A Commissioner in the Federal Character Commission and former Chairman of Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, Prof Adeniyi Olowofela, has expressed sadness over the demise of former Secretary to Oyo State Government, Chief Michael Koleosho.
Koleosho, who was the Babalaje of Saki, died on Monday night at the age of 86.
In a statement, Olowofela said Koleosho left an indelible mark on the political landscape of Oyo State and in the hearts of many in the South West region.
He described the late SSG as a progressive to the core.
According to Olowofela, Koleosho’s contributions to the political history of Oyo State established him as an ‘Iroko,’ a towering figure whose presence and influence shaped the fortunes of many.
“From his tenure as the national chairman of the defunct Alliance for Democracy to his local governance efforts, Chief Koleosho epitomised the values of dedication, integrity and progressive ideals.
“His legacy extends beyond politics. A philanthropist par excellence, Chief Koleosho dedicated much of his life to serving his community, championing causes that uplifted the lives of countless individuals. Whether through education initiatives, healthcare projects, or community development programmes, his impact was profound and far-reaching,” he said.
Olowofela noted that “his good impact shall not be forgotten, adding: “Chief Koleosho’s legacy is a tapestry woven with threads of dedication, service, and love for his people, and it will continue to inspire future generations.”
He extended his deepest condolences to the people of Saki and Oyo State.
“In this moment of grief, we celebrate the life of a remarkable leader, mentor and friend. Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleosho may have departed from this earthly realm, but his spirit and commitment to progress will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. Oyo State has undeniably lost a pillar of its history, but his legacy will continue to guide and inspire future leaders in the pursuit of a more equitable and prosperous society. Rest on Babalaje,” he added.
