Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has boasted of having street credibility and can even work freely anywhere in the state, a quality he said those criticising him lack.
The governor, who said this in a recent interview with newsmen at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, added that instead of trading words with critics, he would ignore them and their criticism.
“I am glad that we do have street credibility. If they think we don’t, I will volunteer to walk on the street of Oje with any of them and we will see who has the credibility. So, the people are appreciative of what we are doing and they know precisely what is going on,” he said.
Makinde also vowed never to ‘stay in the gutters’ with some elements in the opposition who he said are doing everything humanly possible to distract him from addressing the issue of insecurity in the state.
He said he remains unperturbed because of the love the people of the state have for him, stating that they are appreciative of the measures which his administration is taking to make the state safe and secure.
“So, I have chosen not to stay in the gutters with those folks trying to distract us. I will leave them to whatever it is they are doing,” the governor said.
Makinde added that he will continue to serve the majority of the people who elected him into office and not the microscopic few critics who are majorly interested in selfish gains.
“If a majority of the people elected us to be in this office, we are supposed to serve the majority of our population and that is exactly what we are going to do and what we are going to keep doing,” he added.
