Following his release from prison,a final year student of Federal University, Dutse, Aminu Mohammed, has apologised to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, for “hurting” her.
Mohammed had in June tweeted that Mrs Buhari was feeding “fat on poor people’s money.”
The 500-level student was subsequently arrested by security operatives and arraigned before a FCT High Court.
However, the First Lady on Friday withdrew the case against Mohammed after intense pressure.
According to her counsel, Fidelis Ogbobe, the withdrawal followed the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.
Reacting in a tweet after he was released, Mohammed said he had no intention of hurting Mrs. Buhari’s feelings.
”I would like to use this medium to express my sincere apologies to those I’ve hurt, especially our mother, Aisha Buhari. It was never my intention to hurt your feelings and insha Allah I will change for the better. However, I’m also grateful for your forgiveness, thank you mama,” he tweeted.
That was Mohammed’s first tweet after two weeks in detention. His arrest had triggered a nationwide outrage, with many accusing the first lady of abuse of power.
