The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc has assured customers across its network of its commitment to ensuring hitch-free services during the festive period.

While wishing all its customers and Nigerians a safe and enjoyable holiday season, the Chief Operating Officer, John Ayodele, in a Christmas and New Year message, explained that measures have been put in place to ensure network stability and smooth operations during the holidays.

“In anticipation of customers’ expectations during the holidays, we are fully equipped to ensure faults are cleared as fast as possible across our franchise to avoid unnecessary disruption of power supply,” he said.

Ayodele also urged customers and all Nigerians to demonstrate the virtues of love, compassion and peace which are the cardinal pillars of Christmas as epitomised by Jesus Christ.

He said although 2020 has been a year plagued by many challenges, IBEDC still demonstrated its commitment to excellent service delivery by creating more Customer Care Units across its franchise for quicker resolutions of complaints and faults, upgraded and installed some major electrical infrastructure.

“We also introduced innovative ICT driven initiatives and policies to promote real-time reading of our meters, distribution of bills and generally ensure more efficient business operations,” the COO said.

He appealed to customers to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 precautionary measures as recommended by Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC)- wearing face masks in public places, regular washing of hands or use of sanitisers and physical distancing during the yuletide celebrations.

Ayodele also advised motorists to avoid drinking under the influence of alcohol and observe traffic rules to prevent collision with electrical poles and other accidents.

“Ensure proper supervision of your children and wards to prevent domestic and electrical accidents this period, avoid cooking or trading under a high-tension wire, switch off all electrical appliances not in use, and please, do not engage quacks to fix any electrical faults,” he further admonished.

The COO advised customers to take advantage of IBEDC’s hassle-free channels of payment to pay bills and vend such as Quickteller, e-transact, PayArena, Jumia and ATM to avoid disconnection during the holidays.

“Our offices will also remain open during the holidays from 9 am-3 pm,  you can also reach us via our customer care line-0700123999 or email us at [email protected],” he added.
