Ibadan-born business mogul and philanthropist, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, has thanked Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for commissioning the transformer he (Sanusi) donated to communities in Ona Ara Local Government of the state.
He said the aim behind the donation was to complement the efforts of the state government, led Makinde.
A statement by Sanusi, who owns Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan, said the provision of social amenities for the people in Ona Ara Local Government Area of the state was part of his contributions towards making life better for the people of the area.
He noted that he decided to complement Makinde’s Omituntun 2.0 initiative, describing the governor as his personal friend.
According to him, the state government cannot do it alone, hence the need for privileged people like him to join hands with the governor to move the state to greater heights.
“I have been rehabilitating a number of roads and providing communities with transformers; the latest being a set of 500KVA and 300KVA respectively. I will do more to improve the quality of lives of our people and more importantly, to complement the governor’s efforts in making our state a pride of all.
“In Nigeria today, Governor Seyi Makinde’s achievements are second to none. He is the rave of the moment and indeed the best governor in the current dispensation. In his Omituntun 1.0, he recorded many landmark and unprecedented achievements which culminated in his landslide victory for a second term. He needs the support of all and sundry, as an individual, I would continue to support the governor and in whatever capacity to ensure accelerated development of our dear state,” he said.
Speaking at the commissioning, Makinde said the state would be the first to achieve energy sufficiency in the country since constitutional amendment now gives states power to generate and distribute electricity.
“Now, as Oyo State, we can get into the electricity generation and distribution and we will get into it. So, we will take advantage of the new electricity law in Nigeria. Our aspiration is that in the comity of states in Nigeria, Oyo State will be the first to attain energy sufficiency because your governor is into electrical engineering,” he said.
The governor eulogised Sanusi, urging others to emulate him and contribute to the development of their communities.
“Not only did Engr Dotun Sanusi install the transformers, he also linked a number of communities together. He provided the infrastructure like the cables too.
“So, on behalf of the government, the people of Oyo State, especially the people of Ona Ara Local Government Area, we want to appreciate Engr Sanusi for what he is doing in the local government, communities and the state. We are really proud of him,” Makinde added.
