President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, reiterated his commitment to the development and empowerment of the people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Akwa Ibom State and the whole country.
Akpabio made the promise during the flag-off of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) local government elections campaign at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, in Akwa Ibom.
A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, quoted Akpabio as saying, “let me once again assure you all that I will continue to work for you, the state and Nigeria as a whole.”
“The God that did uncommon things in this state when I was your governor, is back again in the state.
“Those who thought there is no APC in this state would be shocked to their marrow with what is happening here today. The crowd here today is unprecedented. It is just local government election campaign, what do you think will happen in the governorship?” the senate president said.
Akpabio thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support to the states, especially the financial autonomy the local governments are now enjoying.
Speaking further, Akpabio used the flag-off and presentation of flags to party candidates to reel out the different empowerment and poverty alleviation programmes he has influenced to the senatorial district, assuring constituents that there is more to come in the future.
He called on the state government led by Pastor Umo Eno, to continue to rule the state with the fear of God, saying,b”let us pray for the governor of the state, so that he will do the right thing during the forthcoming local government election by declaring the APC candidates winners wherever they won. He needs our prayers.”
Party flags were presented to the candidates from the 31 local government areas by Akpabio, who assured them of his support and that of the party during the elections.
Earlier in their speeches, the candidates, Senators Bassey Albert and Ita Enang, thanked Tinubu for standing by their son as the number three citizen in his government. They both assured the president of the continued support of Akwa Ibom people for his government, even beyond 2027.
