The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo state has split into two following the formation of the n-APGA by some aggrieved members.
The faction is accusing the Chief Victor Oye-led National Working Committee (NWC), national leader of the party and Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willy Obiano, of criminally extorting huge sums of money from aspirants, including over 20,000 members who bought the party’s delegates’ forms.
They also accused APGA’s NWC members of reducing the party to a profiteering syndicate.
They called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies to probe the party.
The n-APGA leaders who spoke shortly after a meeting at the Emekuku country-home of Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, a BoT member on Sunday insisted that a primary election did not hold in Imo state, saying that those parading as candidates of the party were hand-picked by some politicians from Anambra State.
They stressed that they do not recognise Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
