The House of Representatives on Thursday insisted that the suspended former Chairman of its Appropriations Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, must apologise before he would be re-admitted to the House.
The Chairman, Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazaq Namdas, who stated this during a weekly media session in Abuja, explained why Jibrin had not been re-admitted after spending a full legislative year on suspension.
But reacting to Namdas’ statement on Friday, Jibrin said he had nothing to apologise for.
Via his Twitter handle, Jibrin said Namdas’ comments are insensitive and insulting to the people of his constituency “coming on a day Kiru/Bebeji constituents gathered to further deepen their protests and mark a 1year of brazen impunity and injustice meted /on them and the member representing them (who it is a public knowledge committed no offense)”
He stated further: “For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state that Hon. Jibrin’s position on this issue remains, as always, immutable”
