A Syrian Christian group claimed on Tuesday said at least 150 people including women and elderly, had been kidnapped by the Islamic State militants.
“We have verified at least 150 people who have been abducted from sources on the ground,” Bassam Ishak, President of the Syriac National Council of Syria, whose family itself is from Hasaka, told Reuters from Amman.
CNN this morning reported that the militants are preparing to release a message threatening to kill the hostages including the 90 British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed the militants captured after series of dawn raids on rural villages inhabited by the ancient Christian minority west of Hasaka, a city mainly held by the Kurds.
