The chairman, Ilaji Hotel and Resort, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, has debunked an allegation of vote-buying levelled against him.
Residents of the state woke up to allegations that Sanusi was making pockets of cash transfers to the electorate to get their support in the ongoing governorship election.
But speaking with journalists at his Resort in Akanran, after casting his vote on Saturday, Sanusi said the accusation is coming on the heels of his popularity among the people.
“The people who made the allegation are only displaying the gasps of a drowning man. They discovered they may be losing already.
“Not too long ago, during the Presidential election, I told them my choice, and during this election too I made my choice known,” he said.
The Ilaji boss commended the electoral process, saying it is the best so far.
Earlier a group had accused the Ilaji boss of moving round Ona Ara villages with money.
The group, Oyo Integrity Forum, asked the police to arrest him immediately so as to caution him.
Dele Isiaka, who made the disclosure, said:“While we have no issue with whoever anybody supports, we believe that campaign is over and nobody should be going around on election day, distributing money to induce voters. This is against the letters of the electoral value.
“The police should swing into action and arrest them.”
