Former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye, who is currently serving a 14-year jail term at Kuje prisons has allegedly obtained a Senate nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while still in prison.
Reports said his personal assistant obtained the nomination form for Dariye’s re-election on Friday, September 7.
A supporter of the governor, Monday Shadrack Kopmut, also shared the news and photos of the form on Facebook on Saturday.
Senator Dariye was sentenced to 16 years in prison on June 12 by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Justice Adebukola Banjoko, who gave the ruling, held that the former governor would serve a two-year and a 14-year jail terms concurrently but did not give him an option of a fine. He was found guilty of money laundering and diverting N1.126billion from the Plateau state government’s ecological funds through an account, Ebenezer Reitner Ventures, an unregistered company, he operated.
