Jay Z has become the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Music legend Nile Rodgers revealed the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame class on CBS on Wednesday.
The inductees include: Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Berry Gordy, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera of Chicago, Max Martin, and Jay Z.
George Michael, Gloria Estefan, and Madonna were all nominated but didn’t make the list.
Like everything in Bey and Jay’s life, this prestigious honor is well deserved for the 47-year-old. He holds the record for the solo artist with the most No. 1 albums in the Billboard chart with 13.
