A massive crowd of indigenes and supporters of the Osun state governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola on Friday, gathered and moved round the town of Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun state, in celebration of the victory of their son in the keenly contested governorship election.
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also staged a feast at the party’s secretariat along Ikirun Road, killing a cow and sharing it among themselves.
The carnival saw the chairman of the party in the local government, Prince Muftau Omogboye, lead his members and supporters to houses of the community leaders to show appreciation. They also visited the palace of the Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Rauf Adedeji.
The victory rally around Iragbiji terminated at the palace of the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrasheed Olabomi, which had already become a beehive of visitations with traditional rulers and leaders from surrounding commities coming to congratulate the king.
Immediately after Jumat service, Oba Olabomi addressed the crowd of jubilant indigenes who came to congratulate him on producing the first governor from the town and its environs.
Oba Olabomi thanked the people for the massive support given to Oyetola. He however advised them against attacking members of the opposition, stressing that God had already given them the victory they craved.
